New years global

WALT: make a slide about new years traditions in diffrent countries.

Todays task was to create slides about how countries celebrate new years, it was intresting to learn about them because I didn´t think there would be much of a difference, but there is a lot of difference between us and other nations. What is your favourite way to celeberate new year?

  1. Hey there, Emily!

Ruby here, a volunteer commenter from SLJ.

Great stuff with this slide show! I think it's so important to research and read about other cultures. It is amazing all the different traditions that emerge around the world. I loved reading the little nation profiles you compiled here and learnt some new things. It made me curious and want to know more.

I've heard that some countries around the world also celebrate new year at a different time of year! I'd be curious to know your thoughts on some of the reasons why this might be.

How did you spend your new years? I watched some fireworks and danced around a clothes line with some of my friends at a little party down the road from their house - it was quite a lot of fun.

    Keep up the great mahi!

Chris here from the Summer Learning Journey. It’s nice to meet you!

Thank you for posting a response to this activity! The Portuguese New Years traditions are really impressive, I didn’t know about that! Did you have a favourite country’s traditions? I used to be a bartender, so I typically work New Years Eve. How about you?

Looking forward to seeing what else you post!

    Ngā mihi,
    Chris

You're very welcome. I love Halloween, but they're all good fun. I've had New Years' in Sydney, Auckland, Boston, Vancouver, and Rio in my life. I hope you get to experience New Years Eve in another country one day!

      Ngā mihi,
      Chris
