Cicada Cooking?

WALT: create a cicada dish for the summer learning journey

The task today was to design a cicada dish, I think the topic was very intresting, To think people eat these things is a bit strange but there are alot of different and unique meals out there! I created this cicada salad, many people who eat cicada would probably be eating it for the protein so i made it a salad for extra protein, if you were to eat it it would be very crunchy and hopefully the taste would be disgued by the lettuce. What is your favourite meal?

Chris here again, from the Summer Learning Journey. I’m glad you found the topic interesting!

What’s the strangest food you’ve tried? I tried an insect dish (I can’t remember exactly what) in Iquitos, Peru, and it was horrible! I agree, though: a salad would probably be the best way to try this! Also, the image you’ve created is awesome, well done!

Looking forward to seeing what else you post in this last week of the Summer Learning Journey!

    Ngā mihi!

  2. Kia ora Emily,

I'm not convinced about eating bugs for protein but I think you are on to something with your salad. Yesterday I was at the park and my niece and I found a cicada coming out of its shell. I don't think I would want to eat him, he looked very alive and busy.

Keep up the great summer learning journey blogging,
