The Summer learning journey Haiku

WALT: write a haiku for the summer learning journey

For the Summer learning journey we are creating a haiku! I personally really like this task and enjoy writing haiku. My favourite part of this task was thinking about the summer and writing the lines. I think that haiku's are simple but fun to do as a little project and are a good time waster. What is your favourite form of poetry and why?

A soft, tranquil breeze filled the air.                                                                                                                    The bellow of the seagulls filled my ears                                                                                                            Slip slop slap SPLASH! off we go!

I got this image from Vicko Mozara on unsplash, Thanks!

My name is Renee and I’m from the Summer Learning Journey Team. Ka pai on your work on this haiku - is this the first haiku you have ever written? You are clearly a talented poet because it is very creative and emotive. In particular, it is awesome how you have thought about how summer affects all of our senses and I particularly like how you mentioned the bellowing seagulls! You have also referenced one of my favourite summer activities which is swimming in the ocean. What do you like to do most in the summer months?

The graphic you have selected to accompany your haiku is perfect as well - it makes me want to go for a swim right now! Well done also on acknowledging the source of the original image - that is excellent.

Ngā mihi nui and keep up the excellent mahi - I can’t wait to see your other posts over the summer.
